What was the motive for the ‘early church’ to meet?  What were the rules, policies and bylaws?   Acts 2 is the launch of ‘the Church’, they were figuring things out.  They were motivated by…wait for it….LOVE!  I think the ‘church’ today needs to revisit the original reason they met.   Even this little church in Waterloo is ‘unlearning’ systems never meant to exist, but we are also learning how be more loving people.  We haven’t arrived, learning slowly.  Enjoy!!

Peter is now embolden by what he has witness in relation to the resurrection of Jesus and the experience of the Holy Spirit anointing the group in the upper room.  Peter builds a ‘case for Christ’ as he shares with the listeners what the meaning of David’s prophecies meant and that they have been fulfilled!!  As a result over 3000 people are baptized and the birth of the ‘real church’ begins!  Enjoy!!

What happened after Jesus rose from the dead?  How did the disciples and others react after they witnessed the resurrection?   Today we are doing a ‘trailer’ of the last four episodes of ‘the Gospels’, each one recording some of the events after the resurrection.  It may surprise you to see ‘who’ Jesus appeared to, and who he did not appear to.  This observation should give all of us hope that Jesus in interested in EVERYONE, not just an elite few.  There is much we can learn from this, and most of it will not look anything like ‘man-made’ religion…it will look like Christ!  Enjoy!!

Deciding to be Grateful – Gratitude is the most fruitful way of deepening your consciousness that you are not an “accident,” but a divine choice. It is important to realize how often we have had chances to be grateful and have not used them. When someone is kind to us, when an event turns out well, when a problem is solved, a relationship restored, a wound healed, there are very concrete reasons to offer thanks: be it with words, with flowers, with a letter, a card, a phone call, or just a gesture of affection. . . . Every time we decide to be grateful it will be easier to see new things to be grateful for. Gratitude begets gratitude, just as love begets love.  – Henry Nouwen

We grow physically in stages and we grow spiritually in stages.  Our journey of growing in grace is about knowing who our Heavenly Father really is.  It is slow and progressive.  False concepts of who God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are replaced with better and more accurate ideas.  Every single person lives their lives based on their perception or concept of who they think God is….and as you grow, your perception gets clearer and better.  What if we can find the same journey in the Bible?  What if from Genesis to Christ, it is a story that reveals the ‘progressive revelation’ of God to those who recorded each of these ancient scripts.  What if the writers wrote from a limited and incomplete understanding hence providing an incomplete and at time incorrect image of who ‘The Father’ is.  I believe this to be true. Buckle up and enjoy this important message that ends with Jesus being the final authority on describing who His Father really is.  Enjoy!

While ‘the Lord’s Prayer’ is a well known prayer, what follows it leaves many confused & afraid.  Why would Jesus say if you don’t forgive, God won’t forgive you?  Doesn’t that contradict many other verses found in the New Testament?  Last week we looked at key verses that reveal we are already forgiven, today we explore what this verse could mean.  May you find encouragement and increase your ‘hope’ in a God you can trust.  Enjoy.
