Craig Snyder shared a few insights on faith that i will be speaking about this morning:

• The word faith, and the word believe, is the same word in the Greek. You can substitute the word faith and belief at will. Believe is the verb and faith or belief is the noun but they come from the same root word.

• Biblical faith, is His faith that is given to you by Christ, in other words the faith of Christ. As a result of having the faith of Christ we see things through His eyes, so biblical faith is seeing things with the eyes of Christ. It is a gift, it is something that has been given and is received. The ability to see things as they are. That is true Biblical faith

What Is FaithWhat Is Faith? Going Deeper And Wider In Our Understanding.

What is Faith? I was born in the region of Waterloo and have gone to church all my life. Over the years I’ve been taught a lot about faith and believing in God. Much of what I was taught, I simply believed because I trusted those who were teaching me. I never questioned the answers given to me, that is until I began to have difficulties in life. It should be no surprise to anyone that when troubles and crisis come, faith is often called into question. I found that when I began to ask questions, religious people seemed to all give me the same answer: ‘you just need to have more faith!’. So, I tried to muster up more faith by reading, praying, and going to church more and all the self-effort didn’t work. This made me ask the question ‘what is faith?’. I discovered a few things that may surprise you as it did me. Faith is not blind; it isn’t a ‘jumping off a cliff into unknown darkness. Instead, it is jumping into light, into a knowledge of what you already know deep inside. True faith is based on facts, Truth, and not on feelings alone. Faith is a gift that God gives you, any truth He has shown you is your faith! You don’t need more faith, you need to look at the truth God has already shown you, and believe it. It isn’t about the amount of faith you have, but rather in what or whom you place it. Everyone in this world has faith, a deep internal spiritual hunger. Where do you think that came from? (Hebrews 11 1-2 The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. MSG) ENJOY TODAY’S MESSAGE!

Ok, maybe we had a bit too much fun today, and no, I didn’t have 5 espressos …. only one great cup of coffee this morning.  I just can’t help but SEE hope and even humour behind so many stories revealed to us in these sacred writings we have been given.  THIRTEEN encounters with the ‘real’ Jesus that inspired immediate change and authentic changes from deep within.  How have you responded…. How are you responding to the Jesus who lives in you?  I pray and hope we have not chosen to live from a bland historical picture of Jesus vs the living life indwelling us, speaking to us, wanting to shine out of us.  I hope today’s message inspires and encourages you!!

encounter with God 6ENCOUNTERS WITH GOD Pt 6: Meeting the REAL Jesus transforms you:

What do these encounters look like? What ‘should’ they look like? How does God view humanity? How did He react to key characters in the Bible, and how did they respond back to Him. How can we encounter a God we can trust? This message is about seeing the goodness in who God really is. Too many in our culture have a terrible picture of who they think God is and then they say they don’t believe in ‘that’ god. It is time to correct those poorly informed perspectives and show God for who He ‘really is’….LOVE. If we say we know God, then we need to look like Him, and God looks like …LOVE. Encountering God is supposed to be GOOD NEWS, not scary.

TODAY: We will be looking at three different individuals and observe how each of them responded when they literally meet Jesus.  Something in them causes to react to the gift of grace Jesus extends to each one of them.   The religious world they thought was accurate and that tradition has told them not to mess with, is suddenly thrown into chaos when they encounter the one who can actually give life.  Religion cannot do that.  Hopefully you can question the path of faith you have been put on and find out if it needs a course correction, or a completely new path.  Enjoy!!
