What if there is hope to be healed of a long held grip of ‘unforgiveness” in your life? Would you want to know about it? If forgiveness can affect our very soul, physical body and life circumstances, then shouldn’t we know more about it?? Today we continue to dispel some myths about what we ‘thought’ forgiveness is. As these myths unravel, a better and more ‘hope-filled’ understanding of forgiveness will rise to the surface! This series will set you on a pathway to freedom and health! Enjoy!

“FORGIVENESS IS NOT” SUMMARY POINTS

  1. Forgiveness is not minimizing hurt.
  2. Forgiveness is not the absence of pain or hurts
  3. Forgiveness is not easy
  4. Forgiveness is not TIME:
  5. Forgiveness is not forgetting
  6. Forgiveness is not just a feeling,
  7. Forgiveness is not being naïve or ignoring it
  8. Forgiveness is not justifying, excusing, or explaining away the offence
  9. Forgiveness is not waiting for the other person to repent.
  10. Forgiveness is not a quick fix.
  11. Forgiveness is not telling the offender you forgive them
  12. Forgiveness is not asking God to forgive the offender
  13. Forgiveness is not telling someone you have been hurt.
  14. Forgiveness is not turning the other cheek, (turning a blind eye)
  15. Forgiveness is not ‘just a one time event’
  16. Forgiveness is not letting the person off the hook. (Justice)
  17. Forgiveness is not ‘pardoning’ what they did
  18. Forgiveness is not restoration

HLH pt5Healing Life’s Hurts Pt 5 – ‘What Forgiveness is NOT’  –  Unlearning is so difficult.  If we are truly going to understand how to forgive, we first need to unlearn ‘misunderstandings’ we have been taught. Once unlearned, we become free to begin the process of forgiving. The Greatest Hindrances to Forgiving others, is wading through the myths and incomplete understandings……only to find out, our ‘mythical definition’ never did mean true forgiveness.  (**PLEASE NOTE: this message and the next few focus on ‘old religious’ misunderstandings that many hold, as well as a focus on ‘serious’ hurts, not necessarily those offences that fit into the average day to day hurts.  Not all of them may relate to you or have been a part of your journey, but they ‘are’ part of ‘someone’s’ journey.  Remember that as each point is made, the commentary is about THE POINT being made, not about the true definition of forgiveness or how to forgive, which is coming soon.)  Enjoy!

HLH pt4Healing Life’s Hurts Pt 4 – “WHY DO WE NEED TO FORGIVE?”:  All of us have situations in our lives where we say to ourselves, ‘I am not or will not’ forgive that person!  What if there are a few things you didn’t know about forgiveness, that if you knew them, you could ‘actually’ forgive.  Today we will look at ‘Why’ we need to forgive, two key reasons.  Forgiveness is not easy, I know this personally.  My story is not that different from many other folks, I really do understand what it means to face the topic of forgiveness in the face of some very difficult circumstance and people.  While the pain I have gone through is real, it is not ‘who I am’, it is just what I’ve gone through.  If there is hope for me, there is hope for you.  (**Next week we will look at the greatest hindrances to forgiveness: What forgiveness is not… if our understanding of forgiveness if faulty, there is no way we will entertain the topic in our everyday lives.  Remove the false understanding so you can walk in authentic freedom. )   Enjoy!

HLH pt1Healing Life’s Hurts Pt 1 – ‘Expanding Your Understanding’ of what ‘Forgiveness’ is.

Everyone has or knows someone that has ‘hurts’ deep in their life that needs healing.  What if many of those hurts could be healed by realizing a ‘better’ perspective on forgiveness?  Too many trite sayings and church teachings have placed a tremendous amount of guilt on individuals regarding this topic.  This series will dismantle the terrible myths and guilt trips that are floating around regarding the topic of forgiveness.  Be prepared to discover a ‘more beautiful’ understanding of what it means to forgive and that is has nothing to do with the ‘other person’.  We will also discover how to walk through the process of forgiveness and eventually find hope to be healed from our guilt and shame we may have been carrying.  TODAY’S message will focus on ‘expanding’ our understanding of what forgiveness is, taking in a variety of perspectives from different teachers and individuals.  ENJOY!!!
