DAY 1: Rise And Shine!

972148_10151710051829391_945454958_nGood morning everyone.  Today is a brand new day!!  How about we rejoice, and actually be glad about it!  Today is the day to simply ‘be thankful.’  No better way to start this 40 day journey than being thankful and living in response to all that He has given us.

As you go through day one, respond with ‘thank you’ to all the things you are thankful for, or for the things God brings to your attention. Here is an example: Do you love coffee, in your mind say ‘thank you’ to Jesus as you sip away.  Open your eyes to all the things around you that you are thankful for.  At the end of the day, look back and add up all the new things you recognized today. You will be surprised.

Enjoy the bible verse below, and enjoy the Journey you experience today!

VERSE OF THE DAY

Psalm 138 The Message (MSG)  A David Psalm

138 1-3 Thank you! Everything in me says “Thank you!” Angels listen as I sing my thanks. I kneel in worship facing your holy temple     and say it again: “Thank you!” Thank you for your love, thank you for your faithfulness; Most holy is your name, most holy is your Word. The moment I called out, you stepped in;  you made my life large with strength. 4-6 When they hear what you have to say, Godall earth’s kings will say “Thank you.” They’ll sing of what you’ve done:  “How great the glory of God!” And here’s why: God, high above, sees far below;  no matter the distance, he knows everything about us. 7-8 When I walk into the thick of trouble, keep me alive in the angry turmoil. With one hand strike my foes, With your other hand save me. Finish what you started in me, GodYour love is eternal—don’t quit on me now.  (MSG) Copyright © 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002 by Eugene H. REFLECTION QUESTIONS: (to journal)

  1. Compared to last week Tuesday, how was today different?
  2. What were a couple unique items that caught your attention today?
  3. Did you sense your heavenly Father drawing your attention to things you hadn’t noticed?

 Prayer:

Heavenly Father/Papa/God, today, I want to thank you for your loving kindness towards me.  Please allow my mind to fully believe how much I am loved.  Will you please ‘be’ my reminder, my encourager today?  Teach me to walk in the reality of being loved and live in the thankfulness that is already in me?  May this 40 Day Grace Journey deeply impact my heart and mind in a profound way. Amen

  1. I am reminded reading your blog today that when i talk to people in the street about God that have already met his presence but did not know it was Christ in them that “thank you” is our talking point to leave them with to continue their discovering him to be relational i just tell them next time you feel that presence say “Thank you” they are closing the loop/facing him, continuing the conversation 🙂

  2. Ha, (This is Art Henkel). In answer to Question #3. Today, God with the help of the Ontario Provincial Police drew our attention to the fact that our license plate sticker had expired 5 months ago. We were so busy getting married and doing life together that we overlooked this until today. Thank you Father 🙂

  3. Love this: “no matter the distance, he knows everything about us” (in the best way possible-yay!).
Heard this lyric on the drive into work today, from Jeremy Camp’s latest tune:
“He knows/Every hurt and every sting/He has walked the suffering/Let your burdens come undone/
Lift your eyes up to the one/Who knows/He knows”

Two reminders from PG in one day – grateful!

  4. There were soft warm touch of my friend’s baby, yummy meat sauce spaghetti my wife cooked, the unique shape of branches of a tree in our neighbor, going to a local grocery store with my son in the evening, listening to my favorite Beatles’ tune, etc. Our Dad is SO REAL. So many thank you!

  5. Thank-you for doing this .I love all things Grace Walk. Before I saw the Day one post, my printer was not working correctly and I was trying to print the instructions of the 40 day journey. I then spent an irritable 2-3 hours working to get it fixed. I had some other legal documents that I needed to print and was quite frustrated. I finally was able to print and then I read the Day One post about being thankful. I had to laugh and say I am thankful that I even have a printer that I sometimes have to work on to get it going. We can be thankful even in the frustrations of our days. God is with us where ever we are! 🙂

  6. A day late to the party, but none the less. Thankful that even though Caleb had an anxiety attack and couldn’t get on the bus yesterday, we got to spend the day together. He came to me in the afternoon with hands in prayer position and said, Mom, pray. I asked what for and he replied, for Caleb. We prayed. Today I’m grateful that he could get on the school bus. Thank you Abba.

  8. Reblogged this on Wordly Random and commented:
Day 1 friends, let’s be thankful. I know I so often sit in my weariness and forget to be thankful. I have lots to be thankful but there always seems to be a “but.” I found that today as well. I woke up feeling quite optimistic. That’s pretty uncalled for for me. In my optimism though, I was worried. Worried it would be taken away from me because I don’t know how to hold onto it. I allow others to suck it from me because I always have been like that. I am praying that during this journey, I will be able to find a way to allow that NOT to happen. Anyway, the reflection questions are best to answer in the evening so I will do that in my journal tonight. Have a super duper day friends! It a mild day temperature wise here but the snow is blowing and the roads are horrible and icy. A great day to stay in and be thankful I have a nice warm house to protect me from the elements of the weather. TTFN
