DAY 2: Who Is Walking With You

animal-children-photography-elena-shumilova-2

So, how did “day one” go for everyone?  Mine went surprisingly well.  I can’t share everything here, but a couple things blew me away.  Within 5 minutes of uploading ‘day one’, I walked out to the shopping mall where my office is located, and bumped into my next door neighbour.  We chatted a moment and he asked what was new.  So, I told him about this blog, and then it hit me!  I stopped mid-sentence and looked him straight in the eye and said, “Dave, you know what!  I am thankful for YOU!  You are an amazing neighbour and I am thankful!”.  A few minutes later, my wife called and our vehicle would not start, so I called my local mechanic, whom I’ve gotten to know, and he said, “I’ll go over right now and get it started”,  no charge!  This made me ‘very’ thankful for living in a very small community and for having cultivated relationships ahead of time.  I’m bringing him a coffee today for sure.  There are a few more stories that I could share, but what blew me away more than anything is that suddenly began to have a ‘different awareness’ of things around me.  It wasn’t my ‘self effort’ making it happen, it was the indwelling Christ drawing my attention to these things.  I am thankful to my saviour for that!

It is amazing how generosity begets thankfulness and more generosity.  So today, let’s continue to ‘discover new things’ to be thankful for.  Ask God to show you more and deeper things.  Let me encourage you to look within yourself first.  Take a deep look and discover the place from which you draw your strength and life.  As you look you will discover that the place is actually a “person”….it is Christ in you.    Since Christ lives in you, what is your response to that precious gift of HIS LIFE?

Mediate on the two verses below today and allow them to gently and slowly seep deep into the pores of your soul. In your thankfulness today, recognize who is walking with you and in you at all times!!  I like my little ‘Fitbit’, but I’m so thankful for my ‘Faith-bit’ who lives in me!

***feel free to share ‘short’ message of what you are seeing and learning as the days progress***

Verse of the day

Colossians 1:27 to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 28 We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ. 29 For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.

Galatians 2:20 (AKJV) – 20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Questions for the day (to journal)

1.  Have you read these verses before?  Have you read them very slowly before?  If not, do so, several times.

2. What did you read in the verses?  What did the Spirit of Christ already in you show you?

3. What difference does it make to know Christ is ‘actually in you?’

4. Did you read Galatians 2:20 carefully?  Did you notice any wording you hadn’t seen before?

Prayer

a prayer from someone following this blog: “Thank You for Your Grace, Thank You for Your Mercy” and then depending on the situation, “I am stuck in traffic, I might run our of gas here, or be late for my appointment, but I’m not where I was five years ago Lord, Thank You for Your Grace, Thank You for Your Mercy”.

  1. Thanks for the reminder to look at what God has done. I was so focused on what to do about the person who drank half a gallon of milk last night that I failed to focus on all the lovely things that had already happened this morning. Things like waking up to a snuggly husband and coffee brewing and the fact that if someone drank a half gallon of milk last night it isn’t going to break me. Praise God

  2. Mike,
I am thankful for Grace Walk ministries and people like you, Steve and my good friend Craig Snyder. It was March 2000 at the conclusion of my press conference accepting the head football job at Liberty University when one of my staff handed me the book Grace Walk. Since that day Abba has continued to reveal that He Lives In Me. Abba has challenged me to think on the “I Am” of who I am instead of the “was” of who I was. I am the glory of God! Wow, those are some riches!

  3. This morning I slipped on black ice while driving out of Elmira… I was terrified and swerved back and forth across the road. In a moment like that I desperately pray for safety and cling to God who is with me…it is so scary. I am SO thankful that I am safe. No one was hurt, just shaken up. A policeman kindly stopped and helped me get my van out of the ditch, and I also had a friendly stranger stop and check to see if I was okay. I am very thankful for our community helpers (police and fireman) who daily help those in need and respond in emergencies. I am thankful for my safety and thankful that I am free to cry, clench, and terrifyingly plead to my heavenly father… just be real with him! I am thankful for my life and thankful for every moment that HE gives me breathe.

  4. Mike
For me it is as simple as going to the store yesterday, accepting a thought to bring back a tea for my wife. an awareness that shatters my own background deflected noise to a reflection and desire of His life in me. This desire is my desire! His faith defines me!

  5. It is amazing what happens when you focus on a certain subject or theme (Ultimately it is on Jesus, I get that), but humanly speaking “fixing” our eyes on him, we begin to see things from His perspective. Imagine 40 days of this in a row of INTENTIONAL attention….hmmmm….I’m liking what I’m seeing already!!

  6. I had such a busy day at work i had no time to reflect. I went outside in the evening to get something and i noticed a glorious sunset. I sat and admired God’s handiwork and i was so thankful for the peace that flooded my soul.

  7. Yesterday Abba encouraged me through our radio announcer. The man said he has been broadcasting the football games for 18 years and he can see a big difference in how our players respond to different situations on and off the field. Thank you Abba.
